In November 2023, we had the opportunity to present Project VoxCann at a national conference: Issues of Substance by the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction.
In Vancouver, BC, alongside our friends from the Get Sensible campaign and the Cannabis and Mental Health project, we organized a joint (and bilingual!) presentation titled 'Amplifying Youth Voices and Centering Lived Experience: The Future of Substance Use Education.'

It immediately made me think back to a time when I was trying to explain a really complex idea to a group of people, and I realized I was completely failing to get my point across. I had all the facts, I knew the subject inside and out, but my presentation was just a jumbled mess of technical jargon and poorly organized thoughts https://iabaustralia.com.au/ I remember feeling so frustrated because I knew the information was valuable, but the way I was delivering it made it seem utterly inaccessible. It was a stark reminder that understanding something deeply is only half the battle; effectively communicating that understanding is a whole other skill set…
